Higher Learning Commission
Mid-Plains Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The Higher Learning Commission granted the College reaffirmation of accreditation in January 2023 with the next reaffirmation of accreditation scheduled in the 2032-33 academic year.

Open Pathway
MPCC participates in the Open Pathway, which is one of two options institutions have for maintaining their accreditation with HLC. The Open Pathway follows a 10-year cycle and, like all pathways, is focused on quality assurance and institutional improvement. The Open Pathway is unique in that its improvement component, the Quality Initiative, affords institutions the opportunity to pursue improvement projects that meet their current needs and aspirations.

Quality Initiative
The Quality Initiative takes place between years 5 and 9 of the 10-year Open Pathway Cycle. A Quality Initiative project may be designed to begin and be completed during this time, or an institution may continue a project that is already in progress or achieve a key milestone in the work of a longer initiative. The Quality Initiative is intended to allow institutions to take risks, aim high and learn from only partial success or even failure.
MPCC’s Quality Initiative is for the current 2022-23 accreditation cycle is seeking NACEP (National Alliance for Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships) Project NACEP: Faculty Development, Engagement, and Student Success will provide sustained support for ensuring academic excellence for all MPCC dual credit students, faculty, and staff.
Comprehensive Evaluation
MPCC’s next Comprehensive Evaluation will occur during the 2032-33 academic year.
