Student Organizations and Activities

Mid-Plains Community College offers a wide range of student clubs, organizations, and activities for all students to become involved in on campus. 

Student clubs and organizations are set up to help students develop leadership, service, fellowship, and to enhance a student's college experience overall.  

Student Life at MPCC offers a variety of opportunities that:

Throughout the year many activities are hosted by the various campus clubs and organizations as well as Residence Life and Student Life. All activities are FREE for students to attend.

Mid-Plains (area-wide)

The Mid-Plains Community College Shooting Club is an area-wide club that is open for traditional and non-traditional students.

The goal of the club is to create a positive competitive shooting experience to enhance the overall college experience through a collaborative team environment, while offering additional scholarship opportunities for students.

Club members will develop competitive shooting skills in multiple competitive disciplines including: trap, double trap, skeet, double skeet, and sporting clays.

For many of MPCC’s non-traditional students, they are balancing multiple life responsibilities as the navigate college: family, jobs, bills, and other adult responsibilities.  The Non-traditional Student Organization is a place where adult students can meet with others who are going through similar experiences to find support and conversations with like-minded people.

Not Your Average Theatre Group is what you want it to be. You can engage in anything from performances of scripts to improvisation and monologues. You get to work as if you are an actual theatre company, from budgeting, marketing to the final performance.

Phi Theta Kappa is an academic honor society with chapters in McCook and in North Platte.  Students are invited to join the organization when they have earned a minimum of 12 credit hours within the institution and have maintained a minimum grade point average of 3.5. PTK students are involved in various service projects and attend conferences during the academic year.

Social Justice Group is a student organization that strives to build equity and understanding at Mid-Plains Community College. We work to raise student awareness around cultural issues and provide students with a platform for change and action. We achieve this through education, consciousness raising, and activism. We give students tools to make lasting changes in their lives and communities.

Sports Media club members can produce content to engage fans and build excitement around sports events. This might include promotional videos, hype reels, or live streaming games for those unable to attend in person. Such engagement can foster a sense of community and support for the teams. Providing learning opportunities for students. Integrating sports into the Sports Media club can offer students interested in media production or journalism valuable hands-on experience. They can learn skills such as video editing, camera operation, interviewing techniques, and sports commentary, which are applicable in various fields beyond school.

Our ambassador program is a leadership opportunity for students to represent MPCC during various recruitment activities. This is a selective group of students who work closely with the Enrollment Team.

The purpose of the Student Senate is to encourage meaningful participation in student activities, to represent and execute the student ideas. Senate members, who are elected by the student body, represent McCook Community College students by providing input into College policies and College management.

Veteran’s and dependents of veterans often come to college with a unique set of experiences that may lead some to feel like they do not belong in college and become isolated. Student Veteran’s Organization is an organization where veterans can find support. Whether members are navigating VA educational benefit procedures, transitioning from military to civilian life, or are struggling with experiences from military deployment or just life in general, this is a place where they can talk in a safe space and find support and assistance from fellow veterans.

The popularity of Esports, a form of online video game competition, has increased substantially throughout the service area and in other colleges throughout the nation. Those who join the MPCC Esports Club will have the opportunity to network with people around the world.

The MPCC chapter focuses on providing community service to our area, hosting fundraisers, and health-related educational experiences. All pre-nursing and nursing students are welcome to join.

The Nebraska State Student Nurse's Association MPCC chapter is part of a National Organization designed specifically for student Registered Nurses. The MPCC chapter works in conjunction with the Licensed Practical Nurses Association of Nebraska to provide community service, fundraising, and health-related educational experiences. The members are involved with the local chapter and encouraged to be active in the State chapter. Attendance at State and National conventions are also potential activities for members. All pre-nursing and nursing students are welcome to join.

The Mid-Plains Community College STEM Club works in the community to promote interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We host science activities for local students at the college, perform science shows and demonstrations at area schools, and we sponsor various service projects. We also provide opportunities for college and high school students to meet and interact with scientists and engineers in diverse fields.
