ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS and Student Categories
Please note: Some programs, such as those listed below, have additional admissions and/or program requirements. Please contact Admissions to obtain more information about additional requirements.
- Associate Degree Nursing Program
- Practical Nursing Program
- Medical Laboratory Technician Program
- Accelerated Paramedic Program
- Automotive, Diesel, Auto Body, Electrical, HVAC and Welding
- High school juniors or seniors enrolled in technical classes in cooperation with MPCC
A student who has not attended college since graduating from high school.
If you are a high school student applying to attend college after you graduate high school, you are a new/first-time student (even if you have taken, or are currently taking, early entry or dual credit courses).
Requirements:
- Submit a MPCC Admissions Application
- Complete a Parent Signature Form, if under 19 when applying (must be at least 16 years of age)
- Complete a college entrance assessment for placement in the appropriate math, English, or reading class (ACCUPLACER, ACT, or SAT scores accepted).
- Submit one of the following:

- An official, final, high school transcript from an approved high school indicating graduation date or a high school equivalency certificate (GED)
- Submit official college transcript if you have taken classes at a college other than MPCC. Example: You took an English class for college credit while you were in high school.
A student who has earned a high school diploma in a home school environment.
Requirements:
- Submit a MPCC Admissions Application
If seeking a degree, diploma or certificate select the Degree Seeking Application
If not seeking a degree, diploma or certificate, and not seeking institutional or federal financial aid, select the Non-Degree Seeking Application
- Provide high school equivalency certificate (GED) OR demonstrate ability by passing all parts of the ACCUPLACER Placement Exam.
- Complete a college entrance exam for placement in the appropriate math, English, or reading class ACCUPLACER, ACT, or SAT accepted).
- Submit a transcript of completed coursework.
A student who has attended Mid-Plains Community College, after graduating high school, for any class(es).

Visiting students are those attending another college, but planning to take one or more classes at Mid-Plains Community College (in a non-degree-seeking manner).
Non-Degree Seeking Students are those enrolling in classes for personal enrichment and not working toward a degree, diploma or certificate. Students admitted under this category are not eligible for institutional or federal financial aid. Students under 16 years of age must have permission from the Area Vice President of Student Services.
Requirements:
- Submit a Non-Degree Seeking Application
- Complete a Parent Signature Form, if student is under 19 years old
Early Entry (often referred to as Dual Credit or Concurrent Enrollment), are students who take college courses while still in High School. Students may be able to earn credits toward both a high school diploma and a college degree. Application information can be found on the Early Entry page.

A student who has attended an accredited college other than MPCC after high school.
Requirements:
- Submit a MPCC Admissions Application
- If seeking a degree, diploma or certificate select the Degree-Seeking Application
- If not seeking a degree, diploma or certificate, and not seeking institutional or federal financial aid, select the Non-Degree Seeking Application
- Submit official, final, high school transcript indicating graduation date
- Submit official college transcript(s)
- Complete a placement exam, if needed, for appropriate coursework.
- A transfer student on academic probation at another postsecondary institution must petition the Vice President for Instruction.
- A student must complete 30 hours or the last 15 hours of credit at MPCC to receive a MPCC degree.
- For evaluation of transfer credit from institutions located within the United States, official transcripts must be sent directly from the transfer institution to:

For evaluation of transfer credit from institutions outside of the United States to
occur, a detailed course-by-course report must be sent to the address above directly
from an approved credential evaluating service agency.
The current MPCC approved agencies are:
- Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc
- International Education Research Foundation
- World Education Services
- The student is responsible for initiating the detailed course-by-course evaluation process with the selected credential evaluating service agency and for payment of any required charges for this service.
- Total semester credit hours transferred from each institution are recorded on the MPCC transcript. A maximum of 45 semester credit hours may be applied towards a degree through MPCC.
- Transfer credits not equivalent to semester hours are converted as:
- “Quarter Hour" credits are converted at a ratio of one quarter hour for each 2/3 of a semester hour.
- Vocational-technical “clock hour" credit is converted at a rate of 35 hours per semester hour.
- Only credit hours earned with a minimum grade of “C" may be considered during transfer evaluation.
- Grades earned at transfer institutions do not become a part of the student’s cumulative grade point average at MPCC. (MPCC does not issue copies of another institution’s transcript.)
- A student who misrepresents information about previous academic records is subject to dismissal.
