Donors at NPCC blood drive could win trip to Super Bowl
Anyone who donates blood at North Platte Community College Jan. 25 will automatically be entered to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
NPCC will host the American Red Cross from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the concessions area of the McDonald-Belton Building on the NPCC South Campus, 601 W. State Farm Rd. The event is open to the public.
January is National Blood Donor Month, and this year marks the fifth year that the Red Cross and the National Football League (NFL) have partnered to remind football fans and blood donors that health emergencies don’t pause for holidays or game day.
According to the Red Cross, the start of the new year is one of the most challenging times to collect blood products as severe winter weather often causes widespread blood drive cancellations and donors may postpone giving due to seasonal illness.
The Super Bowl trip is being offered to help combat that. The winner and a guest will get to enjoy a day of in-stadium, pre-game activities, tickets to the official Super Bowl Experience, round-trip airfare to Las Vegas, three-night hotel accommodations and a $1,000 gift card for expenses. More details are available at RedCrossBlood.org/SuperBowl.
Donors are encouraged to make an appointment ahead of the NPCC blood drive by using the free American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.
A blood donor card, driver’s license or two other forms of identification will be required at check-in.
