MPCC offers series of suicide awareness trainings
Mid-Plains Community College will begin its next set of Question, Persuade, Refer trainings next month.
QPR workshops are designed to help participants understand how to talk about suicide, identify the signs of suicidal thoughts and feel more comfortable engaging with someone who may be thinking about suicide.
The first training will be from noon to 1 p.m. (CDT) May 23 at the MPCC Broken Bow Campus, 2520 S. E St, in Broken Bow.
The MPCC Valentine Campus will also have a session May 23 from 5:30-7 p.m. (CDT) at 715 E. U.S. Highway 20, in Valentine.
A third class is planned for noon to 1:30 p.m. (MDT) June 1 at the MPCC Ogallala Campus, 512 E. B St. South, in Ogallala.
All sessions are free and open to the public. They will be led by Dr. Brian Obert, MPCC Dean of Student Life. Preregistration is appreciated, but not required.
