MCC announces Alumni weekend Oct. 20-21
McCook Community College is inviting alumni back to campus Oct. 20-21 for a variety of events including an alumni tailgate party, volleyball games, an alumni dinner and a reunion of the record-setting 1980 volleyball team.
“We are excited to welcome back McCook Community College grads for homecoming weekend,” said Jake Rissler, Director of Institutional Advancement. “The entire week of student events culminates in a home volleyball weekend with multiple chances for alumni to catch up with current and former staff members over coffee, watching the games, or dinner.”
On campus, Homecoming Week starts Oct. 16 with a variety of events scheduled.
On Friday, Oct. 20, alumni are invited to attend the volleyball game against Otero Junior College at 6 p.m. at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center.
On Saturday, Oct. 21, there is an alumni and retiree coffee to start the day at the MCC Student Union from 9-11 a.m. Please RSVP.
From noon-1:45 p.m. there is an alumni tailgate party at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center. This includes music, inflatables and alumni campus tours. The “White Out” volleyball match against Trinidad State starts at 2 p.m. Alumni will meet in the VIP room on the south side of the gym.
Members of the 1980 volleyball team will also be recognized during the game. This team went 40-11-5 and played in the National Junior College Athletic Association Championship Tournament in Miami, Fla. Under Coach Stan Garretson, this team won five tournament, 29 tournament games, 10 triangulars and one stretch where the team played 12 matches in five days in three cities.
The weekend will conclude with an alumni dinner Saturday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Student Union.
