MCC students inducted into Phi Theta Kappa

Nine McCook Community College students were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Monday at the East Camps conference room.
Kendree Kern is this year’s president of the Eta Omicon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at MCC. Anna Elliott and Stephen Harper are chapter vice presidents.
Hayley Kobza, Enrollment Coach and Volleyball Coach, who came to MCC in 2016, was the guest speaker. She was inducted as a PTK member when she was at a junior college in Texas. At Monday’s ceremony, she encouraged the group to identify how they are different and embrace those unique attributes within groups and organizations to make positive changes.
Also it was announced that sophomore Kyler Cox, Hayes Center, was named as Eta Omicron’s representative for the PTK All-Nebraska Academic Team. This team is comprised of a select few students from PTK chapters in Nebraska, recognizing them for their academic achievement, leadership, and service. On Wednesday he will travel to Lincoln to tour the state capitol, attend a congratulatory speech from Governor Pillen with other Nebraska PTK members, and receive a medal to wear at graduation.
PTK is the world’s largest and most prestigious honor society for two-year college students, and MCC is home to the Theta Omicron chapter.
