DR. JO KEELER INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Southwest Nebraska native Jo Keeler started her teaching career upon graduation from high school when she began teaching at a country school. Ms. Keeler went on to marry, raise three children, obtain her doctoral degree, and become an instructor and administrator at McCook Community College where she served for many years.
During her time at MCC, Dr. Keeler was a guidance counselor, taught night courses for the University at Kearney, and served as the Dean of Students, as well as Dean of Community Services. Dr. Keeler, a long-time sponsor of Phi Theta Kappa, was diligently involved in all campus and student activities. Among her many interests was the recruitment of international students to MCC.
At the time of her death in 1998, the McCook College Foundation established the Dr. Jo Keeler International Student Scholarship Program to honor Dr. Keeler’s service and contribution to McCook Community College. Each year, $2,000 is available for scholarship awards to international students enrolling at MCC. The MCC Student Financial Aid office is responsible for the application, review, and selection process.
