NPCC Student Senate launches food drive
North Platte Community College’s Student Senate is collecting non-perishable food items for families in need this holiday season.
Donations will be accepted through Dec. 13. They will then be turned over to The Salvation Army of North Platte for distribution.
“With the crazy times the world has been going through, a food drive is the perfect opportunity to put some good back into the world,” said Avery Johnson, Student Senate president. “Christmas is coming up, and some families maybe in situations where they are not able to provide food for the table. Donating food to The Salvation Army gives families an opportunity to have a nice meal and to create memories during the holidays.”
Boxed instant meals, rice, pasta, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter and canned meats, soups, fruits and vegetables are among the items needed.
Donations can be placed in any of the collection boxes set up around NPCC’s north and south campuses. Boxes are located next to the welcome centers on each campus and outside the music department and Health and Science Center on the NPCC South Campus, 601 W. State Farm Rd.
